The activities of the Public Works Section are crucial functions of municipal land management and its development strategies, and include the preparation and management of investment projects.

The section deals with new public building and civil engineering works and their ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, with particular reference to public buildings, roads, paths, canalisations, aqueducts and the environment, following all the work phases: investment plans, estimates, preparation of municipal messages to the City Council for credit requests, planning, tenders and execution control with private professionals, taking on the role of project manager.

He prepares and takes care of the collection and disposal of waste, the cleaning of roads and paths, the winter service, the maintenance of public gardens and parks, the management of cemeteries and the drinking water company. In these areas he is also responsible for the preparation of the various regulations and their implementing ordinances.

The External Services team is directly subordinate to him.

It is responsible for deciding, by municipal delegation, on permits to occupy public land, authorisations to display advertising installations, road signs, toponymy and house numbers.
