The Municipality of Brissago promotes ecological waste management to protect the environment and optimise resources. Below are the main indications for proper separate collection:
- Household Waste (RSU): must be delivered in official bags taxed and deposited in the appropriate containers along the carriageways or in private containers taxed with seal, by 7:00 am on the day of collection.
- Paper and paperboard: newspapers, magazines, office paper and clean cartons must be deposited in the appropriate buckets at the eco-centres of the Schools and Ponte. Dirty food packaging, plasticized or coated paper should be disposed of with household waste.
-
Plastic – Sammelsack system
The Municipality has adhered to the new cantonal legislation and introduces the separate collection of plastic through bags Sammelsack, available at regular points of sale. The system, certified at Swiss level and managed by RS Bironic Material Recovery, is funded entirely by consumers.
The bags, from 17 to 110 liters, allow you to collect different types of plastic, including Tetra Pak-type cartons. Any PET bottles inserted by mistake will also be recovered correctly.
The dedicated bucket is located at the Ecocentro Scuole. However, it is recommended that PET bottles continue to be placed in the appropriate containers. - Glass: Empty bottles and containers, without caps or coatings, must be separated by color (white and colored) and deposited in the appropriate underground containers at the ecocenters of the Schools and Ponte. Windows, porcelain, terracotta, tableware and light bulbs are not recyclable as glass and should be disposed of with bulky waste.
- Other recyclable waste: aluminum, tin boxes, PET, waste oils, batteries and clothing can be deposited at the ecocenters of the Schools and Ponte.
- Special waste: they must be delivered to the ecocentre of the Schools on the two days of annual collection provided for; specific dates shall be communicated on a regular basis.
- Bulk waste, scrap metal, timber, tyres, batteries, sanitary appliances and small quantities of inert materials: they must be delivered directly to the ecocentre at the Poss during opening hours.
- Plant waste: domestic composting of garden waste, grass, foliage and branches is encouraged. For those who cannot compost themselves, it is possible to give these materials to the ecocentre at Poss.
- Electrical and electronic equipment: Appliances and electronic devices must be returned to the retailer or collected free of charge from the eco-centre at Poss, the official SENS and SWICO collection centre.
